About the Role Every match on Hinge starts with a decision from our recommender: Who should we show you today? Done right, the app feels like it gets you; done wrong, it feels random. This role owns that decision for millions of daters. As Senior Product Manager on Recommendations, you'll take on challenges like how we welcome new users, how we ensure our recommendations are equitable for all, or how we help people explore as they are figuring things out, and turn them into improvements daters can actually feel. It's hands-on work at the intersection of machine learning and human connection, built shoulder-to-shoulder with data science, ML, engineering, design, and research. Responsibilities Own core recs improvements, end to end. Take defined areas from problem to shipped result, and move core user and business metrics. Make the algorithm feel personal. Partner with data science and ML to improve how we rank and personalize, making the calls on inputs, ranking logic, and experience. Turn ambiguity into a roadmap. Decide what matters most, sequence the work, make the tradeoffs, and keep partners aligned as things change. Decide with evidence. Use experiments, behavioral data, and research to guide your calls when the signals are imperfect. Bring people along. Communicate your plan and results clearly — whether to an engineer in standup or a leader in a review. Protect trust . Recommendations shape who gets seen. Keep the system fair, safe, and true to Hinge's values. What We're Looking For 4+ years of product management experience, ideally on personalization, recommendations, ranking, or other ML-powered consumer products. A track record of owning a product area end to end and driving measurable improvements to core user outcomes at scale. Comfort partnering closely with data science, ML, and engineering — technically fluent enough to shape direction on model inputs, ranking, and tradeoffs without needing to be deeply technical. Strong communication skills, especially translating complex ideas for non-technical audiences. Comfort with ambiguity and making principled calls in high-impact spaces. Experience with products that match people or content (e.g., dating, marketplaces, social feeds, or hiring). Curiosity about dating and the human side of product development, and an interest in the fairness, ethics, and inclusivity of algorithmic systems. A point of view on how AI tools can raise the quality and speed of product work.

About the Role As the VP of Product for Trust & Safety at Match Group, you will bring portfolio-level product leadership to our safety efforts across Match Group. You will own the long-term Trust & Safety product strategy and roadmap across our brands and the shared infrastructure supporting them — spanning the systems that detect harm, the tooling our moderation and care teams use, the capabilities that keep us compliant with a fast-moving global regulatory landscape, and the user-facing features that make safety something people can feel. You will build and lead a central team of product managers, and set product direction that engineering and operations build against. You'll sit within Match Group's central Trust & Safety leadership team and operate across each of our brands — building a deep understanding of each brand’s unique needs and focus areas, and defining a strategy that promotes safe and respectful interactions across our portfolio. How You'll Make an Impact Portfolio Product Strategy & Vision Define and maintain the long-term T&S product strategy for Tinder and multiple other Match Group brands, as well as our portfolio-wide central safety infrastructure, in collaboration with brand teams and stakeholders. Deploy user research and a strong focus on our customers to decide what gets built, in what order, and why — prioritizing across the portfolio to build scalable, reusable solutions. Set a clear point of view on proactive and felt safety: intervening before harm occurs, and making protection legible to the people we serve. Serve as an external representative of Match Group and our safety efforts, helping to translate the work we do into a clear and convincing public narrative. People & Organizational Leadership Build, grow, and lead a high-performing central team of product managers across core safety workstreams. Lead through a matrix. You and your team will partner closely with — and often depend on — brand product, design, and engineering teams. Create the working agreements, clarity, and influence that make that model deliver. Build a culture of high standards, end-to-end ownership, and candor. Build-Once Economics & Shared Infrastructure Make portfolio-level build-vs-buy and vendor decisions: where to invest once in shared infrastructure, and where brand-specific solutions are genuinely warranted. Identify capabilities being solved repeatedly across brands and consolidate them into shared services every brand can adopt. Concentrate investment behind the highest-leverage bets, and raise development velocity on what you choose to fund. Responsible AI Champion the thoughtful application of AI across the safety surface — machine learning, LLMs, and emerging tooling — to improve detection and moderation quality, reduce reviewer load, and lower user friction. Drive a culture of AI-enabled development across functions, including building tools and systems yourself and empowering others in Trust & Safety to effectively deploy agentic coding tools and other emerging technologies to accelerate our work. Every interaction users have with each other on our app begins with the systems your team builds and owns. As the engineering manager of this team, you will help drive the strategy and execution behind the infrastructure and features that power our recommendations. You’ll work closely with machine learning engineers, product managers, data scientists, and data engineers to build systems that balance personalization, fairness, and user experience at scale, from low-latency match-serving pipelines to the candidate retrieval and ranking systems that determine who users see and when. Our ability to provide good recommendations is central to achieving trust, engagement, and, most importantly, whether people can find who they’re looking for on Hinge. Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 6-8 engineers building recommendation services Partner with ML to productionize recommendation models and ensure low-latency, high-availability serving infrastructure Own the technical roadmap for the recommender platform, balancing new capabilities with reliability and performance improvements Drive architecture decisions for recommendation and search infrastructure Establish and maintain engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, and incident response Collaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional engineering teams to define and deliver product-facing recommendation features Manage hiring, performance reviews, career development, and team culture What We're Looking For 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in an engineering management role Strong backend systems expertise – you've built or operated large-scale distributed systems in production Experience with recommendation systems, search ranking, personalization, or adjacent ML-serving infrastructure Proficiency in one or more backend languages (ideally Go) Familiarity with data processing architectures, feature stores, and model-serving technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark, ElasticSearch, etc) Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing engineering teams Ability to communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders Nice to Have Experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) or MLOps tooling (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow) Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) Background in A/B testing and experimentation platforms Prior work at scale (millions of daily active users or equivalent throughput)
